Marie Tremain of Streator, IL was an active donor and volunteer for the American Red Cross of the Illinois River Valley chapter. Philanthropy and volunteering were very important to her, and she was with the Red Cross as a volunteer for over 50 years.
Marie passed away in December of 2018, but her memory lives on in her family and the passion she instilled in others. On Thursday, May 16 the Red Cross hosted a memorial blood drive in Streator at the New Beginnings Baptist Church.
Brian McDaniel, executive director of the American Red Cross of the Illinois River Valley presented a plaque to Marie’s husband, Lowell and her daughters Linda and Pam. Some of her grandchildren even came in from out of state to attend the drive and donate blood. Twenty-two units of blood were collected, with each unit potentially saving three lives.

We are so grateful to all our volunteers, and thankful to have the incredible dedication and passion of volunteers like Marie.
